New Media's Effects in Real Estate

In my paper I will be addressing the major positive and negative effects the Internet, apps, and other new media outlets has had on the real estate industry. Client relations are more wide spread and many people use the online websites to preview homes before even stepping foot into the house. Is this good or bad? Is it making working in such industry harder, or easier? On top of these questions I will also be including the social, economic, and technological effects new media outlets have had. Real estate is a very powerful industry that affects our economy, where we live, and where we choose to live. With new media constantly evolving the business of this industry, it has made social media the only way to get ahead as well as stand out.

  1. I really liked how you connected new media and the real estate industry! Perhaps with the new technologies that are coming out, people are no longer needed to go into open house to view houses. The newest technology of 3D virtual reality allows the person to put on goggles and get a feel of an image that has been prerecorded in a 3D way. Maybe the next big thing is allow the camera to offer a live view of a setting and have the virtual reality goggles controls the view in real time?

  2. I think it's really interesting how you are choosing to explore the relationship between new media and real estate. Real estate has typically been an industry that has been affected severely by technology. Because of the internet there is a wider resource for people to look at in terms of neighborhoods and other things that are important in real estate. I am curious to see how the technology of real estate will evolve moving forward.
